About the Department

Welcome to the Mathematics Department at Bankura Christian College! The Department of Mathematics of Bankura Christian College, Bankura is one of the vintage departments and has an illustrious legacy since its inception.

The Department of Mathematics of Bankura Christian College has been functioning since 1912. The degree course in Mathematics as combination subject was started in 1912 and the same was introduced as Honours subject in 1921-1922. Since its inception, the department of Mathematics has striven to set a good quality education in undergraduate mathematics. The department is proud of Rev. A. J. Mitchell, Founder Principal of the Bankura Christian College who was a Fellow of the esteemed Royal Astronomical Society, London.

The Department has produced a number of good students who obtained first class as well as University Rank in the University examinations. A good number of them have shown their proper success in many spheres of life, such as higher education (PG) and research work in Universities and other institutions of repute like IIT, IISc., TIFR, ISI etc. and also jobs in School, College, Govt./Private Sectors etc.

The department also takes pride in having many distinguished ex-teachers and alumni for their contributions towards the department at various points of time.
